Watching this mafia style story unfold kept the suspense level high throughout this novel。 The Daddy/little girl dynamic between Cyrus and Ava was very steamy and centered on an increasingly deep personal connection。 Hearing Ava’s deepest thoughts and emerging desires made the connection to Cyrus more meaningful。 Although harsh and violent in a few situations， the eventual ending made reading the worth while。I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review。

This is a fast paced story。 Ava is kidnapped by a former classmate who she spurned。 When she escapes， she finds safety in the restaurant that Cyrus owns。 Cyrus quickly makes her his own as he works to make her safe。 They have a HEA。I enjoyed the story。 It was a bit over the top， but that was part of the charm。 There are many scenes of dominance and spanking that are very enjoyable to read。 I recommend this book。I received an advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review。

2 stars。 Read 4/24This is the first book I have read by this author。 Every once in a while， I read a book that is not for me。 This is one of them。It started out ok。 I was intrigued。 Ava had encountered a danger and the suspense started to ratchet up。 Ava encountered a protector。 Not who I thought was going to protect her， but a self proclaimed protector all the same。First， how is it as a single woman living in NYC， working in a bar， that Ava had absolutely no sense of self preservation？How is it 2 stars。 Read 4/24This is the first book I have read by this author。 Every once in a while， I read a book that is not for me。 This is one of them。It started out ok。 I was intrigued。 Ava had encountered a danger and the suspense started to ratchet up。 Ava encountered a protector。 Not who I thought was going to protect her， but a self proclaimed protector all the same。First， how is it as a single woman living in NYC， working in a bar， that Ava had absolutely no sense of self preservation？How is it that Ava went from one dangerous dramatic situation into another possible one and asked no questions？ （I do have to say that Cyrus seemed to be the lesser of two evils）。 BUT， Ava didn't ask him any questions at all？ Yet， she proceeded to do something incredibly stupid with no thought to the consequences。 Someone promises you their protection several times。 You don't have to worry， etc。 How many times did he fail in his promises？ I would have been asking him how he was going to discipline me and he couldn't even keep crazy man from getting close。Ava meets Cyrus 24 hrs， maybe 48 hours prior to him not only deciding to cause her pain， but deciding she enjoys pain as well as the level of pain。 "Sir， you don't know me that well。" If pain is your thing， this probably won't be an issue。 I was not sure if it was non con， or dubious con， but it didn't feel very consensual to me。In spite of all of this， there was an interesting story about Cyrus' past， as well as his relationships with both Jon and James。 The majority of the book was one steamy scene after another that after a while bit was easy to skim through them。Let me not even get into the whole instalove thing。 If you are offended by spankings， rough lower anatomy punishments， dub con or non con， or a bit of humiliation， you may want to pass on this one。 My suggestion is that you read this book and judge for yourself。I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout。 。。。more
